Lumière — website concept for a beauty salon

A business website for a boutique salon in Odesa, built as a single day of light: scrolling moves the clock from 8 am to 9 pm, and booking a specific stylist for an open slot takes under a minute.

Demo UI in Ukrainian — we build in any language.

This is a concept, not a client project. The brand, people and data are fictional; the code is real. It was built for the Ukrainian market, so the demo interface is in Ukrainian. Order a site, and with your permission it becomes our next real case study.

The task

What the site had to do

A beauty salon lives on bookings — and bookings get lost between Instagram DMs, the phone and messengers. A client wants to book a manicure at 11 pm, the front desk replies in the morning, and by then she’s booked somewhere else. Three more typical pains:

  • “Ask the front desk for prices” — clients see neither the price nor the duration and put the decision off;
  • choosing a stylist — people come “to see Marta”, not “for a manicure”, so they need to see the stylists, their level and their price;
  • seasonal sales — gift cards before the holidays can bring in a meaningful share of revenue but are usually sold only at the front desk.

The site had three goals: 24/7 bookings without the front desk, a higher average ticket (a transparent Top/Senior price list, bundles and rituals) and repeat visits through a loyalty club and gift cards that bring in new clients.

The solution

Design and UX decisions

The idea — beauty that catches the light. The whole page is one day in a salon with west-facing windows: scrolling moves the clock from dawn (8 am) to night (9 pm), the background shifts from morning cream to a powder-pink sunset and a graphite evening, and each section has its own hour. On desktop a vertical “sun line” tracks the time; on mobile, a clock in the header. It’s memorable and reminds visitors of the essentials: the salon is open daily until 9 pm, and online booking works around the clock.

Look and feel. Powder pink, cream, champagne and graphite; Cormorant for headings and prices, Manrope for the interface. The recurring motif is the arch of an old Odesa window: it frames the hero photo, the stylists, the portfolio and even the brand mark. The hero comes alive without heavy video: a slow Ken Burns pan over the photo and the glow of the arched window gently “breathing” over the headline.

Booking that sells. The hero already shows a “next available slot” card with a real time. The booking widget goes stylist → service → date and time → contact; the price automatically accounts for the stylist’s level (Top +20%), booked slots and days off are unavailable, and a visit “ticket” builds up on the side. After confirmation the appointment can be added to a calendar (.ics). Every service in the price list, every stylist card and every portfolio piece (“I want this”) opens booking with fields pre-filled.

Extra revenue. A gift-card builder with a live card preview (amount or ritual, design, name, message, delivery) and a loyalty calculator that shows how many points a client earns in a year and which service they’ll cover. Trust without make-believe: instead of reviews — working principles, sterilization, the cancellation policy and an honest FAQ.
